Cybercamps now Giant Campus Computer Camps!

Cybercamps is now known as Giant Campus Computer Camps!  There’s lots of exciting news for kids for summer 2009 camps! I’ve been chatting with Ramil and Jared and Cathy and Sylvia at the (formerly known as Cybercamps) Giant Campus Summer Camps Headquarters, and, drum roll please…. the new Giant Campus website went live today!!! I got to see it about 15 minutes after it went live, and it was exciting! It’s just beautiful, but don’t take my word for it, see the new Giant Campus website for yourself! All you kids that have been having the time of your life at Cybercamps Summer Camps for kids and teens – here’s the Giant Campus and Cybercamps Press Release! You’ll still see the Cybercamps name here on the Cybercamps blog, and on the Hi-From-Cybercamps blog because we still want to welcome everyone that is used to using the Cybercamps summer camps and youth programs brand name… You won’t see it as much on the new website for Giant Campus.  (Same great people, no worries!)  Just get ready to start seeing the new name, and new brand, under the Giant Campus Umbrella of great kids technology programs. Oh, and by the way, no worries – your Cybercamps promo codes are all still good! So please continue to use “GiantCampus53″  for all Cybercamps, Cybercamps Academy and Livewire Disney World Summer Camp promocodes. An update about the camps.  There have been a few changes to the locations of the camps this summer.  Some additions, some deletions.  To be expected, gotta go with the flow.  I am sad to report that the planned summer camp at Walt Disney World – Giant Campus Experience – will not be held in 2009.  It’s a sign of the time, folks.  Sorry.  I do hope that it comes back next year, as my son will turn 14 in 2010.  (This post is written by Penny – this blog admin, and affiliate of Giant Campus, not staff.)  As some of my followers know, I am one of the original Cybercamps Action Agents, the original Giant Campus affiliate program.  I blog to my hearts content promoting these cool summer camps because they’ve been an important part of my son’s life.  In 2007 my son’s father was in UCLA with a terminal illness, and was dying.  I brought my son to see his father in the hospital every week.  (My son was 10.)  This was a horrible time for us.  (Don’t worry, this story has a (*.*) happy ending!)  When I asked my son what he’d like to do for a distraction, he didn’t want to go to Disneyland or Knotts Berry Farm, he wanted to stay at UCLA in the dorms, and go to a computer camp.  Go figure!  So I “googled” “UCLA computer camp” and Giant Campus popped up.  Yup, they had a summer camp, and he could stay in the dorm and everything!  Cool!  Only problem, they were sold out!  So I called, spoke with Jared, and explained what was going on…  He said no worries, he’d just increase the class size!  And, he said, hold the line a minute longer…. And when he came back he told me that he had arranged a full scholarship for Scot, with Microsoft!  What an amazing blessing!  Scot went to camp, and he loved it!  (See his picture here – Scot at UCLA).  And with the assistance of the scholarship I was able to send Scot to two weeks, one of which I paid for.  And, while Scot was in camp, his father received a blessing too, a life saving liver transplant!  So when Cybercamps sent me an email the next spring letting me know of the Action Agent program, I was happy to get the word out about this terrific camp, and the fantastic people that run it!  (He also had a great time at UC Berkeley for a week in 2008, and UCLA for a week in 2008.)  So, in conclusion, (!!!) please buy bonds!  No, I mean please send your kids to this great camp!  And hopefully everything will get back on track for summer camp at Disney World in the future….  Let’s keep our fingers crossed!
